The results suggest these viruses are not common in ME/CFS patients, and previous reports of finding them may have been due to laboratory contamination with mouse DNA.

This study tested whether tuina (a traditional Chinese massage therapy) could help ME/CFS patients regain muscle strength and reduce fatigue. Sixty people participated—30 with ME/CFS and 30 healthy controls. After 10 sessions of tuina therapy, ME/CFS patients showed improvements in muscle strength measurements and reported feeling less fatigued, though their muscles remained weaker than those of healthy people.

Surprisingly, they found that similar numbers of both groups had difficulty with standing tolerance, suggesting this may not be a key difference between those who recover and those who develop ME/CFS.

This suggests that the newer definitions may help doctors identify the most severely affected patients.

The findings suggest that addressing these psychological factors alongside physical symptoms may be important for managing pain in ME/CFS.

Having ME/CFS alongside vulvodynia was particularly linked to these feelings.

People with ME/CFS who also had ADHD experienced worse depression and anxiety, more severe fatigue, and higher suicide risk than those without ADHD.

This study found that when doctors ask patients "Have you been diagnosed with ME/CFS or fibromyalgia?" they miss many people who actually have these conditions based on their symptoms. For example, doctors missed 90% of people who truly had ME/CFS by symptom criteria, and 77% of those with fibromyalgia. The researchers showed that asking about symptoms directly, rather than relying on patients to report a doctor's diagnosis, is much more accurate for identifying these conditions.

This study tested 108 ME/CFS patients and 90 healthy people for three viruses: HHV-6, HHV-7, and parvovirus B19. The researchers found that about 65% of ME/CFS patients had active viral infections compared to only 13% of healthy people. Patients with active viral infections showed higher levels of inflammatory markers and experienced more severe symptoms, especially when infected with multiple viruses at once.
